Danville is a great little town to paint promotional windows or holiday window painting. Christmas Windows are huge there. Every year for long as I can recall, they have had a contest among all of the merchants for the best Holiday decorations. That lends itself so well to Christmas Window Painting. Of course, the competition is not strictly for window painting itself, but if one merchant goes all out with all of the other available décors, the paint on the windows might be enough to tip the scales and win them the contest. Usually, we are just adding a little trim to accent their other decorations. When we go all out and plaster somebody's window, that's generally because that is all of the decorations they are going to put up. I don't think those merchants ever win the contests, but they are showing some spirit. I have no idea what they even win if they take the first place. I think the mayor of Whoville presents the award, though. Doing nothing as far as holiday décor in Danville would be like living in Whoville and skipping out on the holidays. We have painted Danville Auto Care for over twenty years now. Weldon is one of our longest-standing customers. He used to own several shell gas stations, but he is pretty much retired now; he's held on to Danville Auto Care. If he ever sells or closes down that business, it will be the end of an era. However, one thing about him is that regardless of how faithful and long-standing a customer he is, he will never allow us to paint his Christmas windows before Thanksgiving. He is a real stickler about that. We have a few windows in Danville right now - some basic Promotional Window Painting. There is this long skinny window at a gym in the Rose Shopping Center. The place looks huge. It's just a long narrow building, but the shape was ideal for Window Painting - lots of glass!!! It's way up there, too, so it has some good impact. We used a scissor lift to paint that one. That's not typical for Window Painting, but in this case, it made the job go at least twice as fast. |
